About Me

Christine Mathias

LPC | MA

Hi, I'm Christine!

I have been working in private practice as a Licensed Professional Counselor for over seven years, focusing on adults and the many life transitions we experience across different stages of adulthood—including the lasting impact of childhood trauma.

I was born and raised in Chicago and moved to Colorado in 2017. Living here has given me wisdom, perspective, peace, and a deep sense of gratitude. I feel truly fortunate to call this beautiful state home. In my spare time, I enjoy hiking, exploring flavors from different cultures, discovering the nature and rich history that make Colorado such a storytelling state, and sharing time and laughter with my family.

My Experience

Before starting my private practice, I worked as a Program Specialist supporting individuals with Medicare coverage who were living in nursing homes. During that time, I spent a lot of my days visiting residents, listening to their stories, and collaborating with staff and healthcare providers to make sure their physical and emotional needs were being met. Advocacy has always been at the heart of my work, and I was passionate about helping people strengthen their independence and work toward re-entering the community when possible.

I have had the opportunity to work in both inpatient and intensive outpatient settings, supporting adults in managing chronic mental health conditions. A key component of this work involved facilitating gender-specific groups focused on identity development and personal growth. Through this experience, I observed that when individuals’ fundamental needs for safety, connection, and self-worth are addressed, they demonstrate greater capacity for insight, adaptive functioning, and sustained progress in treatment.

MY PASSION

Neurodivergence
& ADHD

Neurodivergence
& ADHD

One of my greatest passions is working with neurodivergent individuals, especially those who were diagnosed with ADHD later in life or who received a diagnosis as a child but didn’t have the tools, resources, or support they needed to navigate it. I love helping people better understand how their brains work, embrace their unique strengths, and build strategies that truly fit them. There are so many gifts—and even superpowers—that come with neurodivergence, and I get my own healthy dose of dopamine when I see someone recognize and lean into those gifts within themselves.

MY APPROACH

Authenticity
& Connection

I build rapport with my clients through trust and authenticity. Every one of us deserves the opportunity to explore what it means to live authentically in a safe, supportive, and non-judgmental space. We each have our own unique path to growth, and I feel truly honored to walk beside my clients as they discover what that journey looks like for them—whether that means reconnecting with the version of themselves they’ve lost or uncovering the person they’re becoming.

In my private practice today, I bring all of these experiences together to create a space that feels safe, collaborative, and deeply human. My approach is person-centered, compassionate, and guided by curiosity—I believe that you are the expert on your own life, and my role is to help you uncover the strengths and insights that are already within you. Whether we’re exploring long-standing patterns, navigating major life transitions, or learning new ways to manage emotions and energy, my goal is to support you in building a life that feels balanced, meaningful, and authentically yours.
